It's assuredly a road of wrath, a road of fury
Pleading to the deaf ears of a biased jury

It's take and take, then take some more
Blood-stained sand in lands war-torn

Many will run, most will turn away
From the horrors of the night they've seen only today

Yet more awaits, more in which we will never evade
From eons of existence we've spent stowed away and afraid

But where have the brave gone - are they hiding now?
In the depth of your eye or in the hollow of your brow?

It's all complaints and a riot of bitter circumstance
Pleading for a better ticket in the lottery of chance

When the waters grow rocky, it's time to jump ship
To loosen one's noose from nature's firm grip

To beg the dealer for a new hand,
To beg the captain to set ashore charted land

Has courage failed us all in the face of adversity -
Plagued by an interminable case of infirmity

In the face of the fates, our scrolls remain rolled
Leaving destiny in the hands of the few and the controlled

As the histories have shown, as the writers have written
There is little we can do to avoid what lies ahead, what is hidden

Yet we cower in the light, our heads bowed
Surrendering before the blood is even drawn, our loyalty disavowed

And we cry to the skies, we plead for an answer
Ask for a circumstance that is far grander

But I will not shudder, I will not wince, I will stand tall
Though bloodied by circumstance, never grown small

I have been dealt a hand that I will surely play
I will look in the eyes of the stranger that is years away

I will not shout against life and her unsheathed blade -
Chance will continue to look and it will always find me unafraid

I will be unconquerable against the tide,
My soul untouchable against the great divide

I will not be condemned to accident, I steer my own ship
And I'm quick to the trigger, ready at the hip

Should they dream of taking my sail down,
I will not cry nor will I drown

I will fly along the winds, a master of the air
My heart carried along the prongs of a fate so rare

Because I will command my own story -
And when they desperately scatter, I will never say sorry
