I had a dream, and in this dream I died, but this was what I saw
I was hovering above Earth, an angelic song guiding me to these lessons I've withdrawn -
A portrait of watercolors painting the hues of a hillside
Willow trees whispering the secrets of all the tears they have cried
Waves lapping onto the shore, Eden reflected in the water's mirror
Wading through pools of sincerity as each step grows clearer
Meadows cradled in a valley's warm embrace
Tree lined paths of intertwined branches growing with century-old grace
The sun's light caressing the mountainside, shades of yellow cascading down
Rolling foothills carrying you closer shaded in the most green of ballgowns
Roses bursting in vibrance amongst their friendly flower companions
Red dirt slipping through your fingertips from the depths of a canyon
Looming forests of intrigue beckoning you inside
The rush of a waterfall hidden somewhere within your only guide
Cliffs that echo stretches of life, void of sound
No seemingly more important distractions to be found
A beam of light that touches your skin, pull something warm into your chest
Let it spread across your mind, fill you inside, leaving your soul purely possessed
Prairies stretch far and wide, reminding you of what it feels to be in spring
Urging the moon into hibernation is sunshine's version of a promise ring
The wrought iron gates of truth stand tall before you continuing to rise
Come closer and see the changing of seasons in my eyes
Voices call in the distance, but instead, stay here with me
Where we can lie in the grass and play violin notes of alluring symphonies
There is an endless story of the sky and stars,
Their love for each other plays for eternity like harmonic strings on a guitar
A desert moon that cries out to be fulfilled, to ensure it is heard
Filling out its' circular silhouette, drawing out your deepest and darkest words
To float down a river with no end in sight
To watch a flock of birds rise into the air and take flight
Plunge your body into lakes, flip from the side into the abyss
Jump off the dock at nightfall and feel the submerge of a pond's kiss
There's no world inside a box that your mortal mind is missing
Nothing to check up on that's better than the life you could actually be living
This virtual tethered tie that anchors your soul to the grave -
It steals and it takes until you become it's unbecoming slave
And you run in the hamster cage, in an attempt to climb faster than everyone around you
A vicious cycle in a trivial world for a race that will never be through
Machines created to puncture the lungs of art
To steal the paintbrushes of expression, to mute the poetic words from the beating of a heart
If only there was more on the clock, there's so much we could experience together
Adventures to plan, inclines to climb, maps of hidden treasure
Art yearning to be created, sculptures begging to made
Songs written to dance, words of love in need of being kindly repaid
I wish we had more time, more moments to pursue
Oh wait - we do
