Sun's gonna set as sure as the moon will rise
Thumb out on the side of the road in hopes of hitching a ride
So far, not a single vessel has gone by
Ain't a soul for me to talk to if you don't count the clouds in the sky
Head's pounding, vision's a little murky
Still faded from this long and unexpected journey
Something in my memory just isn't working
Wondering if there were any scenes worth preserving
There was blood on the floor, but it smelled like red wine
Rumor was I spilled it, bottle wasn't even mine
If someone drove me here, it looks like they aren't taking me home
Might as well keep walking this extraterrestrial unknown
It was the biggest show in town, heard the tickets sold out
A mysterious symphony that no one knew anything about
Somehow I made the cut, thought I got my entry for free
So I slipped behind the curtain, seduced by the lights on the marquee
Pledged my loyalty as a temporary citizen of this space town
Assuming there'd be a ladder to get back down
Now my passport's expired and the front desk says I'm not eligible to renew
Then they send me away claiming there's nothing else they can do
Life passes by quickly here, much faster than time
Spent most of these days finding flowers in the sublime
Gave up on my refund a while ago, not even worth the try
But hey I suppose I should say thanks for stopping by
I guess I'll see you around
If I ever make it back to Earth after this comedown
My dad called, said he wanted to check in on his own
Asked if I'm still never leaving well enough alone
I told him it's just the weather up here, isn't all of life just made for fun -
If he had an opinion, he sure as hell didn't share one
It's getting expensive paying double rent,
On my apartment and the lease on this universe I dreamt
What a strange chemical to have caused this trip
Think it's time I got clean if anyone's got any tips
Desolate desert in another galaxy
Sun's so damn hot, I'm sweating through my mortality
Thinking I'll live forever, even when I finally get out of here
Physical body down below but my mind still orbiting in this sphere
There's a wanted poster with my face on it back home
My friends put up a decent reward for anyone who can retrieve me from Rome
Phone's out, no more calls coming through
Would you look at that, the sky is finally blue
Thinking I may as well ride out this trip,
Ain't looking like this town's gonna be something I can skip
Sending you a postcard from a place you couldn't pronounce
Until I see you, I'll be on the space town comedown
