Random access memory and a filing cabinet drawer,
Old records scattered across the floor
Cheap beer bleeding a ring that’ll get ignored
You could walk out the door, but you wouldn’t know what for
When there’s an endless night to explore

Running browser, keep the power
Information temporary in these fleeting hours
Retrieving experiences in hopes to devour,
Reliving moments when the music is louder
Searching the database for more storage to scour

May tomorrow never come, may the day never rise
The sun denies what the moon sighs
And if God is in the river, if he’s whispering through the pines
Maybe he’s swimming in the pools of your eyes
While civilizations spend eons asking why,
All you need is enough storage to reach into the depths of tonight

For the time we all have together, as time is never free
Is not nearly as long as I hoped it would be
But if you ruin the day by imagining all the years you wish to see
Of the chains, you’ll never be free
The future agrees, your once planted tree
Must grow to reveal its decree

Hope floats while nostalgia drowns
Possession is a fool’s errand into town
If it’s an RAM that you find hanging around,
Maybe it’s just the record playing in the background
I could be deaf and I’d know that sound
Like your laugh through a photograph that I just found

Sensory exploration, cranial subterfuge
While the SSD is busy storing things for you,
In a deeply hidden cache, whispering in technological cues
Written in charcoal hues, hieroglyphics to you
Reach deep down inside, do what many cannot do
And if you go that way, I’ll go that way too

The night’s on fire, the flames conspire
Only the sky knows what will transpire,
You’re the buyer, the speaker the supplier
The music grows louder, lifting you higher

Like a novel, an eternal night will always close
In the light you’ll be plucked like a thorn from a rose
Your shadow a ghost, along it floats
Feeling morose, your body now only the host
Until another sun rises and sets in orange grandiose
So you can then return to the spirit we wish for the most

Like a wall against a tempestuous tide,
I don’t know if I believe that any one thing is wrong or right
So I built a place, hidden in plain sight
If you become sick of Earth tonight,
My planet is floating along the moon’s light
Unflinching against my misanthropic view of life
Standing tall despite, maybe even in spite
If you can find it, accept the invite
And upon the wings of the night, take flight
