The waters always appear calm in the night,
Wave upon wave lapping slowly to the shore -
But in the brisk cold, a ship appeared in my sight
A curiosity engine, my fascination restored
From atop the wall, the flames flickered, a wonder they needed no rekindling
A glimpse into it's light, inconsequential interest
A message in a bottle floated, the journey far, the light dwindling -
Yet it's return that very night I witnessed
My bones brittle from the ice, my guards impaired from the gloom
A quest set before me
Only divine intervention drew me to consume -
Calling to the wind, I plunged into the sea
How the lines of youth impede wisdom
The fallacy grays your line -
How the road you lined carefully of your system
Loses its' spine
The light flickered viciously, fallen Stannis
For memory only drives her own lane
Sunken into the depths of Atlantis,
A crown fallen off the region you reign
The waters don't make sense, they're unrecognizable
How could this be?
Just a brief moment ago, you knew them quite undeniable
It's labyrinth path reeling in decree
Grasping for straws at memory's claw
I took one last expedition to the vessel
Now just missing pieces of the jigsaw
This unsettling discomfort beginning to wrestle -
Rugs pulled out from underneath you,
Now lying back on solid ground
The fog has changed her shape so that I can see through -
An alternate intermission never quite found
Like the blindfold pulled off, a ship returned to her country
Ages pass and breath slowed, was it ever there at all?
Had the winds played tricks to open your organ montre -
Open diapason trickling, displaying down your wall
