Down down down
Down you must go
Inside the rabbit hole
Open the hatch, see what's inside
One can only find a new self when the other has died
It appeared from somewhere within the folds of time
Past the windy dirt road and over the hill,
Vine crawling up it's sides all the way up to the windowsill
An ivory monstrosity, an imposing tower
An entire environment it's devoured
Clawing and begging and scratching
Corroding the foundation
Of this puzzling fixation
Loosen the bricks
Learn how it ticks
For every great kingdom has fallen yet
Scaling the sides, must get to the top
Drowning out the voice inside whispering to stop
Open the doors, lower the barricade
Rapunzel, won't you let down your braid?
This fortress so shiny and gold from afar
Must see up close, this waning moon of light
North Star in the witching hours of your darkest nights
At last, finally made it inside
The first and only guest to have ever arrived
Within the walls of Pandora's box
Filled to the brim with an ungodly amount of treasures and trinkets
A ship so delicately crafted, you could almost envision sinking it
Secrets behind every corridor
Thoughts stowed beneath creaky floorboards
An enchanting architectural anomaly
Tear it down to understand how well it was really built
Like a hurricane house staggering on top of disaster stilts
Must keep digging, must explore
Unsatiated desire to uncover more
Sell your soul, make a deal with the fates
Outside, a storm begins to arise
Rain falls, wind sighs
No one mourns the wicked
Especially not the wickedly afflicted
Gold disintegrates into copper
Call to the sky, say your prayers
Daydreams slithered into nightmares
The furniture now looks so cheap
And the rent is getting far too steep
Running to keep up, sprinting to make the train before the door closes
But the hatch is closed, the sky is starless
A cover removed as you tumble into your own darkness
Down you must go
Into the rabbit hole
